Joint Masters Degree in
Religion, Economy and Politics

The Joint Masters Degree Program in Religion - Economy - Politics is offered by the Universities of Basel, Lucerne and Zurich. They jointly award the title Master of Arts in Religion - Economy - Politics. The Joint Masters Degree Program analyzes the interfaces between religion, business and politics in a transdisciplinary way and addresses pressing social issues relating to religion at a local, international and global level.

In the Joint Masters Degree Program, students study in detail the connections between religion, business and politics from different, complementary scientific perspectives. They learn about and critically reflect upon fundamental debates, theories and methods from political, economic and religious studies, as well as Christian theologies. An inter- and transdisciplinary perspective is trained and then applied in the Masters thesis.

Graduates of the program acquire the basic knowledge and skills to analyze the challenges of a global economy, transnational policies and growing religious and cultural diversity. The acquired expertise will enable students to work in academia, international bodies, NGOs, governmental institutions, the media, political parties, associations, in consulting, as well as in economic, church and other religious organizations.

As the program coordinator and first contact person, Silvia Martens will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
