The Center for Religion, Economy, and Politics’s research seminar aims to contribute to trans- and interdisciplinary research at the highest academic level. Fellows from relevant disciplines (Theology, Religious Studies, Political Science, Business and Economics, Sociology, etc.) will be appointed to pursue research within the auspices of the seminar. The fellows will research a topic of their choice in a joint project over a period of two years and develop a publication to present their findings.
Periods of time in which all of the fellows are present in Basel (eight weeks over the two-year period) enable an intense scientific dialogue and simultaneously serve to transfer the seminar’s research results to the master’s program, the doctoral program, and to the wider public.
Making use of the idea of social spheres (Sphärenbegriff) the research seminar 08/09 looks into the interdependence of religion, economy and politics. The second research seminar 09/10 has started this February. Its topic is legitimacy and religion (Legitimität und Religion).
The research seminar is a joint institution of the ZRWP and Collegium Helveticum in Basel. It is managed by a board from the ZRWP, headed by Professor Dr. Georg Pfleiderer.
